SIP Panels

Using a product called SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels), we can produce a fully insulated room, allowing you to enjoy a warm sanctuary 365 day a year. The panels can be used for the floor, walls and the roof. It’s all in the description, Summer Houses that are offered by shed companies, are just that, houses that can be used in summer, they are not insulated at all. SIPs panels are easy to manoeuvre, two people can easily lift them into position, this coupled with the speed of build, a Garden Studio can easily be erected in a day.

5 Reasons to Build with SIPs

  1. High levels of air tightness

  2. Strength; stronger than traditional timber build

  3. Speed; save time and labour on construction

  4. Energy efficiency; excellent u values and thermal performance

  5. Reduced cold bridging

What are SIP Panels?

Structural Insulated Panels; these panels consist of two sheets of OSB3 (oriented standard boards) adhered to a sheet of rigid foam insulation. Varying thickness of insulation achieves the required level of insulation for the desired end use or product.

These panels are compressed together under high pressure to form a structurally strong panel, set with specialist adhesive. Using walls formed from SIPs can greatly reduce the labour and time cost associated with timber frame or masonry construction. Insulated joining splines also reduce cold bridging, which can occur with timber framed studwork.

  • Low Levels of Waste

If you use footprint sizes that are compatible with the panels it saves on extra cuts and wastage.

  • Fewer Noise Penetrations

    Insulation helps with noise reduction.

  • Quick Build Time

Can be constructed in days rather than weeks compared to traditional timber build.

  • Reduced Construction Costs

Cheaper than traditional timber build, for example the materials and labour time.
